Safiya Ismaila Yero

Safiya Ismaila Yero bagged a B.A. and M.A. in English and Literature from the University of Abuja, and a P.G.D.E from the Nigerian Teachers’ Institute (NTI). She is a Registry Staff at the University of Abuja where she also Heads of Alumni Relations department of the University.

Safiya teaches Use of English on a part-time basis in the School for Basic and Remedial Studies of the University, Institute of Education and Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education, and also working on her PhD thesis. She has been a resource person of the NERDC since 2016.

She has authored two novels, two children’s books, and a number of English textbooks for Primary and secondary schools. She is a consultant with Pan African Development Education and Advocacy Programme and also runs Matan Arewa Creative Arts and Engagement Forum( MACAEF )—an NGO which focuses on promoting and developing northern Nigerian female artists.

Safiya is a Gender and Human Rights Activist, public speaker, poet, a wife and a mother.
