Since the turn of the new millenium--which marked a turning point in digital technology, big data, creativity, and STEM-related fields--traditional
education become increasingly deficient in preparing students for the challenges ahead.
Life has become fast-paced, such that, what students learn in
school may have become outmoded at graduation. Jobs dynamics are shifting, as the nature of keeps changing.
Besides academic briliance. employers now look
for other competencies like emotional intelligence, lateral thinking and creativity skills, social adaptability, political and civic consciousness. etc.
Enterprise is creating jobs through solutions-oriented startups which, manned by smart entreprenuers, are opening new vistas outside the norm.
As opportunites
become even more linked to these capabilities, it becomes imperative for education stakeholders to develop a body of knowledge that can help close the gaps left
by conventional learning.
To this end was born the Child, Teen to Adult Academy - CTA: an initiative of concerned Nigerian professionals bringing their global
experiences towards developing well-rounded young African change agents. The target is children and adolescents aged between five (5) and twenty (20).
Worried by an evident lack of contemprary imagination in curriculum developement in Nigeria, drivers of the CTA Academy, who include child psychologists, technology
experts, and seasoned educators, developed a curriculum that can help the African child think technologically and become a problem solver.
While CTA Academy is rooted in Nigeria, it is driven by a broader sense of African developement, one that is committed to moulding African talent and resource for
effective homegrown solutions.
