Yahaya Abubakar

Yahaya Abubakar is a Computer Scientist / Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Kogi State University, a PGD in Computer and Internet Technologies from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK and an MSc in Information Engineering with Network Management from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, UK.

Yahaya is currently an Engineer with the National Space Research and Development Agency and is a member of the IT unit of the Planning Department whose main responsibility is to design and implement the Information Technology needs of the Agency. He was part of the team that designed and built a wholly Nigerian High Performance Computer (HPC) which has led to several collaborations with Nigerian Institutions. He is also a graduate of the National Institute of Information Technology’s (NIIT) Intensive Mastermind Series, is Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) certified and is a Cisco Certified Network Professional.

Yahaya enjoys teaching during his spare time. He’s got a passion for Astronomy and is a tour guide at the National Space Museum. He is also an avid badminton player and is an assistant coach of a football team. One of his favorite quotes is “a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle” by James Keller.
